Enzo Durante

Born in ’74, Vincenzo Durante is the owner of 1947 Pizza Fritta. A lover and connoisseur of Neapolitan tradition, he has cooked with passion all his life, with a special love for fried pizza and its ingredients: but don’t call him a chef! Even though he always likes to experiment and has the ‘arteteca’ (the fidgets), ‘Enzo’ is and remains a true pizzaiolo, with his hands always deep in tradition.
A Napoli fan and devotee of Maradona, San Gennaro and… Sophia Loren, he discovered fried pizza as a child, when on Sundays he was taken for breakfast with this tasty ‘fried croissant’. Then, from the alleys to the first kitchens, he wanted to understand its goodness and its secret in depth and become ‘o rrè’ (the king) of fried pizza in Naples.
You will always find him with a smile and a story to tell, or a new recipe he is passionate about. Because in Naples work is called ‘a fatica’ (toil), but for Enzo ‘toiling’ to honour the mission of fried pizza is first of all an honour.
